Activities, restaurants, hikes, outings… She gives us all her top tips for a great vacation in Val Cenis.

Can you introduce yourself?

“My name is Emmanuelle, I’m the Accommodation Manager at Les Balcons de Val Cenis Village**** residence in Lanslevillard and this is my eleventh season here.”

What are the strengths of Val Cenis?

“First of all, before being a resort, Val Cenis is made up of 5 villages that remain truly authentic. What’s more, it’s a very family-friendly resort with activities of all kinds, and finally there’s its proximity to Italy. In summer, you can go there for a pizza in less than half an hour.”

What else can you do besides skiing?

“Hiking on snowshoes or on foot, cross-country skiing on the Bessans ski area, which is close to Val Cenis, ice diving, or dog sledding. The activities are really diversified.”

Do you have any suggestions for walks?

“A very easy walk is the Chemin du Petit Bonheur, which links all the villages. The best way is to take the shuttle bus to Bessans, stop at the Point Vert and then walk down Chantelouve into the forest, where there’s a magnificent view of the Dent Parrachée.”

What’s your favorite restaurant?

“La Bergerie restaurant located within the residence has a superb sunny terrace. There’s another very authentic restaurant in Val Cenis, l’Estanco, which is a little hidden away in the village.”

Where to go for a drink?

“For a cocktail, with or without alcohol, there’s Howard’s on the other side of the bridge. For a beer, on the other hand, just cross the other bridge to Chardon Bleu.”

An event not to be missed in Val Cenis?

“La Grande Odyssée, which takes place in January, is a beautiful dog sled race in the Alps.”

What’s your favorite moment of the season?

“March-April, when the days get longer, the weather is better and temperatures are on the rise. The snow is still very good and the skiing is ideal.”

Why choose Les Balcons de Val Cenis Village****?

“We’re located right next to the village and the ski lifts. What’s more, the residence has a mini-market, a ski store and a restaurant. It’s possible to book ski passes and lessons at preferential rates, via our central booking office. There’s also access to the spa at Les Balcons Platinium Val Cenis****: a wellness area with swimming pool, saunas, hammams, hot tub, fitness room and Thalgo treatments and massages. Everything you need is available on site.”
