Summer health info

Are you packing for your trip to the mountains this summer? Is this your first summer holiday in the mountains and you need some advice on what to pack? We’ve got you covered!

Once you’re in the resort, pharmacies can be hard to get to.

To save you the trouble, here’s a list of medicines we recommend you take with you:

  • Usual medicines for fever, pain, vomiting, etc.
  • Bandages and anti-inflammatory creams. The mountains are unforgiving, so bring something to treat sprains and blisters. If you hike a lot, you’re not immune.
  • Antihistamines (available over the counter from chemists), the mountains are full of pretty things to see, but like any summer destination, you could be stung by a wasp or a bee.
  • Antihistamines will help you cope with the itch and avoid any unpleasant allergic reactions.
  • A thermometer; yes, you can catch a cold in summer too, so remember to wrap up warm in the evening!
  • Enough of your usual medication. If you haven’t had time to collect your medication, take your prescription with you to the chemist

There are doctors in the resort in both summer and winter. If you start to feel unwell, don’t hesitate to go and see a doctor as soon as possible.

What to wear in the mountains:

Although the summer season is much milder and more pleasant, you mustn’t forget that you’re in the mountains. And mountains mean cooler temperatures!
So pack some warm clothes. Once the sun goes down, temperatures become much cooler and it’s much more pleasant to enjoy your balcony in the warmth.

The sun is also more aggressive at altitude. You’re closer to it, so its action is amplified. We therefore advise you to take a sun cream with you, factor 30 or 50. Depending on your skin tone and sensitivity, don’t hesitate to apply it several times a day, so you’re always protected. And don’t worry, sun cream doesn’t prevent you from getting a tan! So you’ll still be able to make your colleagues jealous when you return to the office. You can also add a cap if you’re prone to sunstroke.

If you’re planning to go hiking, it’s also essential to be equipped with good hiking boots. Avoid flat trainers and other city shoes. Good footwear will ensure you enjoy long hours of discovery, without the risk of damaging your feet.
