Committed to sustainable tourism
Knowing the impact of our activities, we have always integrated the environment into our development and achievements. In 2024, we decided to go a step further by formalizing our approach under the name Les Balcons Goes Green, an ambitious initiative to make our establishments ever more responsible in their operations.
The Clef Verte label, internationally recognized for its rigor and demanding criteria in terms of sustainable tourism, rewards our efforts and pushes us to go even further in our commitment.
The Green Key label
Present on five continents, the ecolabel touristique Clef Verte is the first international sustainable tourism label for tourist accommodations and restaurants. The criteria for obtaining it are rigorous and cover several areas such as water and energy management, waste management, responsible purchasing, local involvement, respect for biodiversity and raising awareness among staff and guests.
By choosing a Clef Verte-labeled establishment, travelers support initiatives that preserve the environment, while enjoying a quality experience. This label is a guarantee of confidence for vacations that combine comfort and respect for the planet.

Three Les Balcons establishments honoured
In 2025, we are proud to announce that three of our establishments have been awarded the Clef Verte label out of 2428 establishments labelled :
- Les Balcons de Val Cenis Village**** Located in the heart of the Vanoise valley, this establishment offers an authentic experience, totally immersed in nature. Among the steps taken to reduce its energy consumption; 100% of the establishment’s electricity comes from renewable sources, mainly hydraulic, supplied by La Compagnie Nationale du Rhône and certified by Enalp.

- Les Balcons Platinium Val Cenis**** Top-of-the-range accommodation at the foot of the slopes, combining comfort and energy efficiency. With more than 30 cm of insulation on the walls and roof, and a centralized heating and electricity management system, this establishment contributes to optimized energy management.

- L’Hôtel Alparena**** & Spa à la Rosière This hotel combines relaxation, well-being and respect for the environment. It stands out for its policy of reducing individual plastic packaging and low energy consumption, reaching only 140 kWh/m² in 2023, well below the average for 4* hotels (289 kWh/m²). What’s more, our energy consumption comes from green electricity and pellet-fired heating!

These three establishments have met the hundred or so Clef Verte criteria, which focus in particular on the management of natural resources, the promotion of local products, the establishment of local partnerships, and raising customer awareness of sustainable practices.
Towards certification of all our establishments
The labeling of these establishments is not an end in itself, but rather the promise of a long-term commitment to constantly improving our practices.
In the medium term, we also want to label all our establishments, so that every stay with us contributes to more environmentally-friendly tourism.
